D23 2024: The Future for Disney Parks, Cruise Ships, and Beyond

Disney just unveiled nearly 50 announcements at the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event for 2024 at the Honda Center. These aren’t just distant plans; we’re actively building these projects, and many will come to life within the next five years. The sky’s the limit, and we’re just getting started. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro summed it up best:

“At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design, and build stories into real places. Imagineers are working all around the world because everything shared tonight is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. We are doing everything you’ve heard here tonight.”

DISNEY CRUISE LINE TO LAUNCH FOUR NEW SHIPS

Setting sail from 2027 – 2031
The Disney Cruise Line fleet is expanding to 13 ships worldwide, with new details on the Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny revealed.

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.

MONSTERS, INC. LAND COMING TO HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

Construction begins 2025
Sulley, Mike, and the rest of the crew from Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” move into Disney’s Hollywood Studios, inviting guests inside the factory for the first time.

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

CARS AT MAGIC KINGDOM

Zooming to construction in 2025
Fan-favorite stories and characters from Pixar’s “Cars” race into Magic Kingdom Park with two new attractions for the whole family.

The new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom will feature fan-favorite Disney Villains from popular Walt Disney Animation Studios films and two new attractions.

VILLAINS LAND AT MAGIC KINGDOM

Something wicked begins construction soon
Prepare to see a darker side of your favorite fairytales as the Villains cast a spell over Magic Kingdom.

Tropical Americas, coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is inspired by the nature of northern South America and Central America. Tropical Americas will feature new attractions themed to Indiana Jones and the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Encanto.”

Sprouting to life in 2027
Tropical Americas comes to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, featuring Indiana Jones and the Madrigal family from “Encanto.”

A new Avatar attraction coming to Disney California Adventure will takes guests on a journey to explore the wonders of Pandora, and the dangers that come along with the trek.

AVATAR-THEMED DESTINATION AT CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE

Explore more of Pandora
Announced for Disney California Adventure, this new area is inspired by “Avatar: The Way of Water” and future Avatar films.

For the first time ever, guests will be able to see the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in the new show “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” which will eventually play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” after its initial debut at Disneyland park in 2025.

FIRST EVER WALT DISNEY AUDIO-ANIMATRONICS FIGURE

“Walt Disney: A Magical Life” will begin playing at the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland, rotating with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.”
