On August 11, thousands of Disney enthusiasts gathered at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, for the Disney Legends Awards Ceremony, marking the grand finale of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The evening celebrated 14 exceptional talents who have made significant contributions to the Disney legacy, with host Ryan Seacrest leading the ceremony.
The Disney Legends program, established in 1987 with its first inductee Fred MacMurray, has since become a cherished tradition, honoring individuals who have left a lasting impact on the company. Seacrest kicked off the event by expressing the importance of recognizing those who bring the Disney magic to life.
One of the night’s highlights was the induction of Harrison Ford, introduced by Disney CEO Bob Iger. Ford, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and his appreciation for the collaborative nature of the industry. Lindsay Lohan and Jodie Foster introduced Jamie Lee Curtis, who accepted her award with heartfelt thanks to the audience, acknowledging their role in making legends.

Derek Hough honored Martha Blanding, a 50-year Disneyland employee, who spoke of overcoming adversity to achieve her success.
The ceremony also featured a tribute to James L. Brooks by Danny DeVito. while Rob Marshall introduced Colleen Atwood, the first costume designer to be honored as a Disney Legend. Frank Oz, celebrated by Pete Docter, reflected on his journey from a childhood marked by war to creating iconic characters.

Mark Henn was recognized by the voices behind Disney Princesses, and Joe Rohde received accolades for his work on Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with a special message from Jane Goodall.
James Cameron, introduced by Zoë Saldaña, dedicated his award to his late producing partner Jon Landau, while Ryan Coogler honored Angela Bassett for her powerful performances in the Disney Universe.
