My Wife is a Disneyphile.

You may ask yourself, what is a Disneyphile?

A Disneyphile is not just a ‘casual’ fan of Disney; they are characterized by an intense and enduring passion for all things Disney. Their enthusiasm extends far beyond merely enjoying the Disney movies or occasional theme park visits; it becomes a fundamental part of their lifestyle and identity. They’re like the pixie dust-infused superheroes of Disney fandom! These people don’t just watch Disney movies; they live, breathe, and dream Disney magic every day. No, seriously. My wife wears Mickey ears around the house. We went to Disneyworld not too long ago and while she was taking photos of everything, and everyone; I on the other hand, was taking pictures of her taking pictures of everything.

Here are my top10 things that could be used to label you as a Disneyphile.

  1. In-Depth Knowledge: Disneyphiles often have an encyclopedic knowledge of Disney’s history, including the creation of the many iconic characters (even some of the non-iconic ones), the evolution of Disney animation, and the development of Disney theme parks.
  2. Collectors: Many Disneyphiles are avid collectors of Disney memorabilia, such as vintage merchandise, rare Disney pins, limited edition artwork, and Disney-themed figurines. Their collections can be extensive and highly curated.
    • Don’t get me started on this one (floor to ceiling ‘toys’ and art).
  3. Frequent Park-Goers: Disneyphiles are known for their regular visits to Disney theme parks, and some may hold annual passes or memberships. They not only know the layouts of the parks but also the best times to visit, the most sought-after attractions, and the insider tips for a great experience.
    • Last year alone she took the kids and went 7 (SEVEN!) times to Disneyworld. This wouldn’t be a big deal if we lived in Florida, but we don’t. Flights, accommodations, vehicle rentals, etc., all gets to be rather expensive. Especially, when you take into account she had 3 kids with her minimum for each trip. When I was a kid we would go once; not once a year, not once every few years, we went once. We even had half our relatives living in Orlando and Tampa!
  4. Appreciation for Disney Art and Music: They often have a deep appreciation for the artistry of Disney animation, as well as the iconic music compositions that have become synonymous with Disney films. Disneyphiles may collect art prints or listen to Disney soundtracks regularly.
    • Beauty and the beast soundtrack is going in the background right now. “Be our Guest, Be our Guest!”
  5. Cosplay and Costuming: Some Disneyphiles enjoy dressing up as Disney characters and may engage in cosplay or create intricate Disney-themed costumes for special events or conventions.
    • Do you have a Disney ‘outfit’ closet? We do.
  6. Disney-Inspired Lifestyle: Disneyphiles may incorporate Disney themes into their homes, from decor to kitchenware. Disney-themed clothing and accessories are also staples of their wardrobe.
    • Mickey plates, Mickey spatula, Mickey Waffle maker, need I go on?
  7. Community Engagement: They actively engage with Disney fan communities, whether online through forums, social media, or in-person meet-ups. Sharing their love for Disney with like-minded individuals is an important aspect of their passion.
    • That’s why we’re here. She has so much insider type knowledge and this is the place to make it shine.
  8. Emotional Connection: Disneyphiles often have a deep emotional connection to Disney’s storytelling and characters. Disney movies and experiences can evoke nostalgia, joy, and even a sense of belonging.
    • Be warned, if you’re in a Disney character costume you will get a selfie with her and all the kids, and lots of hugs. Captain Jack; I’m keeping my eyes on you.
  9. Planning and Organization: When it comes to Disney vacations, Disneyphiles are meticulous planners. They know how to maximize their time at the parks, make dining reservations, and secure FastPasses for the best attractions.
    • Coming soon to a blog near you!
  10. Generational Love: Disneyphiles often pass down their love for Disney to their children, creating a multi-generational connection to the Disney brand.
    • We have a daughter that spent time with the (Disney College Program (DCP), and my other kids are always Disney themed for halloween.

Being a Disneyphile is more than just being a fan; it’s a way of life, marked by a deep and enduring love for Disney that permeates various aspects of one’s life, from collecting to travel and community engagement. Disneyphiles find joy, inspiration, and a sense of belonging in the magical world created by Disney. You c
